Auditory Research Collaborator

Richard Salvi

Distinguished Neuroscientist | Hearing Loss & Tinnitus Expert

More Information:

Dr Salvi is a globally recognized leader in auditory neuroscience with deep expertise spanning hearing loss, tinnitus, and neurodegeneration. A Distinguished Emeritus Professor at the State University of New York, and currently Research Professor at the University of Central Florida, he is ranked among the top 900 neuroscientists worldwide, Dr. Salvi has received numerous honors from the US, China, and Italy, Dr. Salvi’s research directly aligns with Therapeutic Vision’s mission to prevent and treat sensory loss. His work has defined key mechanisms underlying noise-, drug-, and age-related hearing loss, as well as tinnitus and hyperacusis. Importantly, his research emphasizes translational strategies—identifying pharmacologic interventions that prevent cellular damage and preserve sensory function. His expertise in linking molecular mechanisms to functional outcomes, combined with advanced imaging, electrophysiology, and behavioral modeling, provides critical scientific validation and strategic guidance for developing first-in-class therapies targeting sensory degeneration.
